Just a fair warning for those of you considering this drive. The road turns to dirt after the Roosevelt dam. The sign says it is only 25 miles. But it is 25 miles of a narrow, dirt road that winds up and down the mountain (which ever mountain that is). Despite the fact we had just cleaned the car, of course, the dirt wasn't terrible, and the views were incredible! This is true desert beauty.

The surrounding desert was covered with saguaros and prickley pear. The ultimate desert forest!
