October Part One

Oct 2nd
October started out with a bang, literally. Fridays is park day for our ward, and seeing as the weather is supposedly cooler I decided to take the boys to the park and chat with friends. The jungle gym at the park we went to is particularly high and has a rock climbing wall with a drop taller than an Meagan with her arm extended above her head. Meagan was manning the drop to prevent kids from walking off and when she turned to comment to her friends Adrian walked straight off the jungle gym. Luckily he managed to land bum first but he fell on his back pretty hard and smacked his head on the sand. When she picked him up he started crying but then lost consciousness for a couple seconds then came back wailing. A little freaked out but not too concerned, she kept an on Adrian for a while. He wanted to walk but didn't have balance, so she took him to the bench where he started to eat, drink, talk and be normal. He regained his balance and began to play again. On the way home from the park Meagan decided to call the doctor to find out any warning signs she should look for in case Adrian's blackout was more serious. The nurse that answered the phone literally flipped out and told Meagan that Adrian had had a seizure, he needed to go the hospital asap and to pull over and the nurse would call an ambulance. Meagan decided to go to the fire station to have the fire fighters check out Adrian. The Fire fighters called an ambulance which escorted Adrian to the hospital. Meagan beat the ambulance to the ER and after a five hour wait (and the ambulance bill) the ER doctor said Adrian was fine. Adrian had no symptoms of seizure and since he was acting normal there was no cause for alarm. The ER doctor did, however, give Meagan the information she wanted when she called the pediatrician, warning signs to watch for. As a memoriam for this event we took a picture of the thing they put on Adrian's toe to monitor his heart rate.

Happy Birthday Meagan! Meagan Birthday was on conference this year, but Patrick got up early and made breakfast for the family. Mmmm. He also got Meagan a new camera! So she took some random pictures to test it out.
For desert Meagan wanted to make a jelly roll, but was craving something fruity, so she found this recipe for a meringue jelly roll with raspberry filling. It sounded yummy, looked weird and tasted disgusting! She later made a simple layer cake with berries in the middle and cream cheese frosting to make up for the yucky meringue.
Adrian was the only one who enjoyed the meringue roll.
Anthony's face tells how yucky it was (FYI the yellow on his finger is a thumb guard. It is a 'handy' :) plastic guard that fits over his thumb preventing him from sucking on it. It was a torturous beginning, but after 4 long weeks the guard came off and he no longer sucks his thumb :))
Adrian really enjoyed eating and playing with it

Denali enjoyed licking Anthony's chair

This fall Meagan is doing a preschool with some friends who have kids Anthony's age. It is just twice a week and all the moms take turns teaching. Today for preschool we went on a field trip to the fire house (yes, the same one Adrian went to after his fall, Luckily there were different fire fighters there).
Anthony and his preschool friends:
Alec (Zac's older brother), Zachery, Indianna, Shaylin, Raiden, and Anthony
Anthony loved the fire trucks
Anthony checking out the lockers
One of the fire fighters showed the kids how they get dressed in their gear; Anthony is more interested in the truck
Adrian enjoyed the fire trucks too. He just pointed and said "duh" aka truck
The Fire Fighter let Anthony hold his heavy helmet!
Now Anthony's excited!
Even though the kids watched him dress, they aren't sure who is under the mask
All the kids with the fire fighter. Indianna is hugging her mom, Cori
Momentarily listening but still his fingers are on the truck
Adrian kept trying to run away, which made Shaylin worried. She was a good helper bringing him back to the group
The trucks! The typical Fire Truck is on the left, the Ambulance in the middle, and the Water Truck on the right.
Anthony checking out the gear in the back of the truck
The kids each got turns "driving" the vehicles. Anthony driving the Ambulance
Adrian is a passenger in the Fire Truck
Anthony on the radio

Anthony was full of questions. Particularly about the computer in the truck. The fire fighter was nice and answered all his questions

Adrian climbing on the seats..."CHEESE"
Emmalyn and Adrian hanging out together. They are so glad they have older siblings in preschool so they could come to the fire house!

Meagan put the boys on the hood of the fire truck, thinking she'd get a good pic, but it wasn't a great hit.
For lunch that day we went to In-N-Out. Adrian is enjoying the shake in his car seat

Anthony is patiently waiting to get the shake back
That night Anthony and Daddy played doctor. Dr. Anthony checking Daddy's temperature
checking Daddy's reflexes
Dr. Daddy checking Adrian's heart
Adrian taking his own temperature
Adrian trying to figure out the stethoscope
Adrian needs a hair cut
Dr. Daddy checking Anthony's reflexes
and giving him a 'shot'
Denali hiding the scissors begging for attention
Chico enjoying being left alone
Anthony and Daddy used to have these special motorcycles that only they could play with. Adrian has adopted them as his lovies and carries them every where
Oct 8th
Surprise gift from Great Grandma and Grandpa (GGM and GGD)! They sent the boys these cute animal shaped soaps in a sand bucket. So Cute! The had fun picking out which animal they wanted to use in the tub.
Oct 9th
We went to the zoo with our friends the Hedges and Glenn's. While we were waiting for the Glenn's, Adrian spilled his snack and we watched the birds enjoy it
Anthony and Shaylin Hedges in the giraffe tree hosue
We were walking by the side of the African exhibit when we saw this giraffe eating leaves from the tree branch above him. It was soo cool to see it tongue!

We were trying really hard to be on time to church today because we had to give the prayers in Sacrament meeting. Adrian stole Meagan's bag of nail polish while she was doing her hair and dissappeared. After she was done she went on the hunt for Adrian. The boys were too quite so she knew something was going on. As she came down the stairs she could smell the nail polish and alsmot had a heart attack when she saw it spread all over the floor. Thankfully as she and the boys picked it up the polish there was none on the carpet. She wondered why the smell of polish was so strong is there wasn't any on the carpet. There wasn't any on the carpet, but Anthony did paint his face...

Of course he used red, purple, and pink quick drying paint. The only way to get it off was to use nail polish remover. Anthony had painted his cheeks and around his eyes, so she had to be careful and it took forever because of the colors. Needless to say Meagan and Anthony were late to church, but Patrick got there on time to do the openeing prayer, even though they announce Sister Lopez to over the invocation :)

Family Hair cuts! Since Mommy has a baby in her tummy, Anthony pretends his stuffed animals are babies. Today's is baby ducky's turn. Anthony holding baby ducky and sporting his new cut!
Adrian loves to say cheese to the camera. He looks so big with his hair cut! It is amazing the transformation from his long hair to his short hair

Anthony is saying "Mom no mroe pictures of our hair please!" and Adrian is playing 'see food'

Denali is so adorable when she lifts her ears up
The only way I could get pics was to break out the play dough

Adrian had either discovered hi

We just love the way Anthony puckers his lips
Oct 13th
Adrian used a spoon for the first time today! He actually scooped out the cereal and ate it making a cute big mess!

the best part is playing in the mess he made

then eating the spilled cereal off the table, instead of the cereal in the bowl

Oct 14th
Denali is half boxer half bull-mastiff. Bull-mastiff's are known for getting benign cysts. Denali had one removed from her lip a few years ago, but another sprouted on her back. It wasn't bothering her, but it seemed to be growing so we took her to the vet to have it removed. She was so loopy after the surgery but her recovery has gone well. Denali's surgery scar

The dogs were so cute curled up together we had to take a picture!
Adrian was too cute to pass up too
Today we went to the zoo with Dad. The boys loved walking around by themselves.

It was feeding time for the burrowing owls, so we got to watch them eat their grubs.

The bobcat was somewhat in view today. You can kind of see his spots in the crevass.

The mountain lions were taking a nap together. It reminded Meagan of the dogs this morning
Adrian is now tall enough to reach the buttons
Near the end Adrian got tired so Dad gave him a piggyback.
We love how Adrian is holding Dad's head
The coati were digging in the mud and they looked like racoons
There was a sneak peak of Stingray bay this week end. Though we could pet the rays today, we did to see them get fed

Lunch time! Adrian chowing on his brownie
Anthony's all done with lunch and hanging out waiting for us to finish

Meagan loves his toes
We ran lots of errands after the zoo so we went to dinner. Adrian is dipping his fork in the salsa

and eating it!

Mmmm... must have been good salsa!
Anthony said his tummy hurt so he didn't eat. But he still gave mom a silly face!
Oct 21st
Today was a day of big messes. First, Meagan decided to make some turtle bread. The boys were a big help with the dough. While shaping dough into a turtle and fixing the rest of dinner, the boys kept stirring and making a huge mess.

Yeah this probably isn't the safest, but Adrian wouldn't have it any other way
Anthony some how got flour on the bottom of his feet
Anthony is concentrating...see the tongue?
Happy kids sometimes mean a big mess for mom. But look at that smile, could you say no?
Anthony's mixing his water

Don't you just love the sparkle in his eyes?
Water was added to the flour mess

Adrian is stirring and Anthony is painting
Anthony discovered he is tall enough to get water out the fridge, so he now has an endless supply of water
Meagan is making the boy's costumes for Halloween. Adrian is going to be a mummy. Meagan died gauze in black tea and was letting it dry on the counter. Some of the gauze suffered flour tragedy
Denali too got flour on face
The mixing then went to pouring as Anthony transferred watery flour mix from the bowl to the cup and back
The transferring was of course unsuccessful, but they had fun painting the counter
This is when mommy called it quits

Adrian's chair expressed the nature of the mess. Meagan had to take the chair outside and hose it off. To bad she couldn't do that with the counter and floor, but Adrian was a big helper with clean up.
The mess was worth it...Look how cute the bread is! Though we forgot to make the shell design, it is still cute. Besides the kids mess it was easy yummy bread to make
The second mess was when Anthony was "taking his nap" earlier that day, he tore the wall paper off the wall. Meagan later found other pieces of the wall paper in the laundry.
Oct 23rd
Anthony was really cute today. He found winter hat and pretended he was skating on ice! Here he has 'slipped' on the ice, but he is still all smiles

Adrian isn't sure what ice skating is

Anthoyn loves this hat because of the ball on top

Anthony can still be so adorable!

Adrian is adorable too

Oct 24th
Our second preschool field trip. This time we went to Shamrock Dairy farms. These signs tell how much food the cows eat and what their diet is.
Jonni Anderson was sweet to hang on to Anthony adn make sure he was sitting while the train was moving. Anthony is checking out the huge mounds of cow feed
Adrian looking at the looking at the cows in the distance
We stopped at a play area for the kids which had a milk bottle jungle gym, cottage cheese slides, and pretend cows you could 'milk'. Our kids headed straight for the jungle gym. Emmalyn and Adrian are trying to figure out how their older siblings were able to climb up so fast
Adrian saw teh kids lifting their feet to climb the stairs, so he thought he would give it a go
Anthony going down the cottage cheese slide with Adrian coming up behind

Adrian and Emmalyn found some stairs they could climb together
Next we went to a viewing room where the kids could watch the cows be milked. Here's Anthony and Adrian checking it out

Next we watched a video of what Shamrock Farms does with the fresh milk and how they package and make their products. Anthony thought the seats were a great for racing
Lastly we returned to the 'barn' and all teh kids got a free jug of milk. The boys had so much fun! We are glad we did preschool with Anthony this semester, he has learned so much and we have done lots of fun things! They grow up too fast!
