Playing Dead

As the course of nature usually goes, most our plants went dormant this winter. However, the grapevine not only went dormant, but turned into twigs. The vine got so brittle the wind and rain broke off some branches. We were so convinced the vine was dead, we were starting to plan what else to plant there. Turns out our grapevine likes to play dead. Just yesterday it sprang leaves and buds! Turns out grapevines are tough plants.

Our backyard is coming to life! Our hibiscus is springing all sorts of buds and beautiful purple flowers!

Our pomegranate bushes, although they desperately need a trim, are filling out fast. We had a few small pomegranates last year. Hopefully we will get some more and be able to pick them before the dogs do.

Our Crepe Mrtyle is budding too. This tree is supposed to grow pretty fast. Hopefully this year it will fill out some more.
